Day 10: BERLIN

Today we had an early start and headed over to the Oranienburg concentration camp, just outside of Berlin. This is the remains of the real concentration camp and we had a guided tour learning about the camp and the inmates who were kept there. It was so interesting to look round and was so surreal to believe the things that had occurred in the places we were standing! It was an amazing experience.

We then headed back into Berlin and went for lunch with Majella and Mary, our Australian friends, in a very German – vibe pub. (The food was incredible)

We headed over to the panorama punkt which is Wurope’s fastest lift that takes you up 150m and it gave us incredible views over the city and found it to be so much greener than we expected compared to the amount of building and construction work we had seen being done!

We then headed to get a dunkin’ donut as we’ve seen so many round, we were craving them! After heading back to the hostel  to rest our feet we went out to grab some dinner and to the supermarket to buy some supplies for our journey tomorrow as we are off on another train journey to another exciting city!

We have been suprised at how much we have experienced and enjoyed Berlin and have loved meeting and exploring the city with Majella and Mary. it’ll be really sad to say goodbye to them tomorrow after the many, MANY laughs we’ve had together.
